The bridge that took us into Washington. |
It was in Washington near Mt. St Helen's. "Welcome Home" was all you heard as we were struggling with our luggage. We tried to pack light but 5 days in the middle of a forest..how can you pack light? My photos are limited because it was gonna die as soon as we crossed over that bridge so I didn't take it out other than when we first got there.

I'm kicking myself now for not having anymore pictures. This blog here has many many pictures so you can get a feel of what it was like. From the bridges to the trees, dinner circle, the main meadow and the trading circle. I can see everything so clear in my head. I remember almost every part of the trail. We walked it night and day to get from the trading circle to random kitchens (that served the most yummiest food) to shitter island and back to camp. Derek and I didn't take any food what so ever and we ate like kings up there. I've never felt so taken care of before in my life.
The first night we set up our tents on a bank next to this crystal clear stream. Then we wandered and ran into some friends. They showed us where they were camped and we hung out for awhile. On the way back to our camp we walked by what I now know as 'Instant Soup' and there was a crowd of people sitting next to this huge fire pit singing. We heard them say the black bean soup was gonna be done in 20 minutes. It was dark and freezing out there so we decided to stick around for some grub and get warm by the fire. Every one seemed to know everyone and the songs they were singing were uplifting, caring and catchy! Derek and I got carried away and sang almost every song with them up till the soup was done. It was so good for soul and feeling all that love from the first night we were there. Of course I did some knitting while I was up there. The first day there I knitted my friend Ashley a hat while wondering around the entire place. My head wasn't quite there but I managed to turn it into a cowl/hat. I wish I had pictures but I did manage to make me one out of the same purple yarn, the left over green yarn from Der's fathers day hat and the blue yarn from the hat in the above picture I knitted in class before the trip. I actually traded that hat for one peacock earring. Ha ha ha I need to weave in my ends and take pictures of that. All in all my rainbow trip was amazing and I will be more prepared Next year. Things to remember: Random pocket trade any chance you get, NEVER give your lighters to the projects, Donate and Help all the kitchens as much as possible, Give Freely, Love Openly and never be scared to smile at complete strangers. They are your family after all. Loving You and You. Now Back to Knitting...Leshmub
