Design Time

I've had in my stash for awhile Cascade Yarns Eco duo that Der bought me for my birthday. It's 70% baby alpaca and 30% merino. I used almost one hank on my hand/arm warmers.
I could guess on how much I had leftover but I have no idea.. I also had in my stash a turquoise color yarn that my friend Celeste bought for me from The Wool Cabin. I wish I knew where the tag was. I think the brand was Sublime. It's a tweed merino I know that. Anyway! I was in class doodling

and I came up with this simple pattern of diamonds and ribs for a hat. I sorta left the idea until I was at the movies with Der and I realized I had a whole ball of the merino yarn and a tiny ball left of the alpaca so I decided to combine them into a hat! And I really love the colors together. I strayed from my original doodle. I think it would look better in one color. I cast on yesterday afternoon, realized my gauge was way off and had to rip it out when Derek got home from work and re cast on. I had one diamond row completed before I went to bed.  I've been working on it feriously since I got out of class. It's going to be done tonight!
Oh and I finished my acrylic brown hat. My boyfriend is such a hot model. I can't decide if I am going to decorate it with buttons or leather or beads. Der says it looks sorta indie just plain so I think I might leave it. I'm not sure though. I've been wearing it all day.

Derek says this is an eerie picture and has a lost spirit vibe. You can't really see the hat but I still dig it. Pictures of my ultra smooth hat coming soon!
