Not Meeting The Goal

That red shrug I started? Still not done. Where the pattern asked to increase I started to decrease. I said eff the pattern and continued on by myself, only to ruin my decreases somehow with big holes. But I didn't realize this really until I was ready to bind off. I debated binding off and living with the holes or ripping out 5 rows and starting over. That lovely knitting side kick of mine helped me decide to rip it back so I could love it deeply when I'm done. Best idea ever. Only, since I've done that 2 rows have been finished. Yesterday was Easter so it was a pretty busy day but I managed to knit those 2 rows! Today is going to be my last day in my math class so all morning I have been studying for my math test. It's a ramble morning. I need more coffee. I need to knit. I need to get ready.

Great Horrible Sweater Idea

The almost great. So the other day after I posted, I was in dire need to start something new. Being poor like I am, all the yarn I have to Knit with are acrylic. Which is oook by me. Some were given as Christmas and birthday gifts from my boyfriend who happens to work at Michael's arts and crafts. yeah I got lucky. More than half is yarn I bought while lingering in the store while waiting for Derek to get off work.
Thus! giving me a pluther of yarn to make glorious things with and disregard my schoolwork. I really wanted to knit with this Homespun yarn so I started thinking. Derek bought me the green and I bought the red in hopes to make a scarf. I thought it would be so rad to mix these crazy colors into a sweater from my glam knits book by Stefanie Japel. I started this swatch and then realized the horribleness of the great horrible idea. I really could not see myself wearing those two colors together.
My alternative: just plain red. I started the trapeze jacket pattern and realized, being poor like I am, I only have one skein to work with..cause it was going to be a scarf remember. So I decided to make it into a cute little red shrug. Buttons? long sleeved? short sleeved? Still to be decided. I'm ready to bind off the bottom and start the sleeves. It has to be done by tonight. No exceptions.

The Inbetween

I have new better pictures of my freshly made sweater but I am too lazy to search for my cord so I can post them. I got two of my knitting books back this morning, woo! I'm going to start a hat while I decide on the next big project I am going to do. But I can't decide on a pattern. I really hate the in betweens. I have a shirt that needs to be finished. Two different hand warmers, two birthday presents and a really long overdue hat for my brother. I could start/finish on any of those. I'd rather just babble about them and what my day consists of:
  • It's Thursday.
  • No school.
  • Lots of homework
  • No ambition
  • Sickly Tired
  • Project Pressure
  • Lots of yarn choices
  • Chronic ADD
That's really not all of it. I think maybe ill take a mini nap before I get started.

The 2 needle-Chopstick Bindoff

I really wish I had my camera camera yesterday when I completed my sweater. The pattern called for a three needle bind off. Which I have never attempted but seen done on Lucy Neatby.Ribs

Purple monster  Early that..afternoon I woke up at 1:30 and got semi ready and left the house with only my sweater and the needles attached to the hood. I knew I was going to finish it in 4 rows or less but running down the stairs again seemed to time consuming just for a third needle...(we were racing to get to Ogie's in West Valley by 3 before they closed for breakfast) While I was at a friend's house picking up some goods, I knitted my last 3 rows and started my 3 needle bind off with my two needles and yes..a chopstick. My friend had a pair, unused of course laying around his kitchen. Then Alas! Finished! I took this picture in my friends bathroom. All I have at this moment is crappy cell phone pictures and web camera pictures so bare with me. I still haven't blocked the hood or weave in my ends. Hopefully tomorrow is sunny and not rainy and I can take some good pictures of the lace work.

I don't know what to start now. I was thinking maybe a hat cause it's small and easily finishable for this week.  I still have my online school work that should be done already but I'm too lazy to read my pages. Instead I sit and stare at MORE knitting blogs and dream of all the soft luxurious yarn I could be knitting with...and calm my four yr old son down from his trip on high blood pressure and me dying of a heart attack.

Daydreaming in Patterns

Since 10 this morning, I've sat in front of my computer staring at knitting patterns and knitting blogs. My boyfriend Derek is convinced I like looking at patterns more than knitting. Which might be possible. Staring at knitted things and their patterns I can imagine how mine would look and picture myself knitting it. Then I realize I have no money to buy all the yarn it calls for and I probably don't have the correct needle size or it's in use at the moment and I sulk on to the next pattern. Only to do it all over again :)

My 100% acrylic sweater sits in my lap waiting to be finished. I have about 10 more inches to go on the hood and I'm done. That me hiding behind my sweater in my pajamas. All I have to take pictures right this second is my web camera. Hopefully I can get this done and modeled in no time! (with better pictures)

I'm working on getting all of my other projects together and posted. I feel like I have already said that. I probably have. I just watched a video on Knitted Bliss's blog on how to wear caplets......I'm dying to buy some purple wool and knit me up one in a matter of hours. SO CUTE! I have so many projects in queue already that once I'm done with this sweater I don't know what to start on. For right now I think I'll day dream about yarn shops and watch a movie and finish up my sweater.

Success!

I finally created a blog for my very self and my knitted projects. After I stewed for 30 min over the title, I decided to go with The Poor Knitter because well, I'm poor ha ha ha. Since I am poor I only get to knit with acrylic yarn. My lovely babu Derek purchased 2 hanks of 70%baby alpaca 30%merino wool for me for my birthday in February. I made long hand/arm warmers with one hank and I haven't decided what to do with the other.  That's as close as I come to Luxury Yarn. Today I have no school and some homework to do. Since I woke up this morning I have been exploring this new website I found last night called Wool and the Gang. I wish I had 80 bucks to blow on one of their kits. One day.

When I was 16 maybe 17 my 6 yr old niece showed me how to knit.  My sister has been an avid knitter from ...I don't know when. I never picked up knitting needles again until the winter of 2009. My sister bought me some yarn and my own pair of knitting needles for my birthday that year. I looked on the internet and started knitting. It turned out to be a disaster and I was pretty bummed. Down those needles went until last winter. I picked them up and knitted my 4yr old son a scarf. Since then I have knitted leg warmers, hand warmers, headbands, hats, and a sweater! Which I am almost done with. I will post pictures up soon. I'm Itching to finish my sweater now. HAVE A LOVELY DAY!
